Mondelez brings augmented reality to permanent Toblerone space at Dubai Duty Free

UAE. Mondelez World Travel Retail has introduced new technology to its permanent merchandising space for Toblerone with Dubai Duty Free at DXB (Dubai International).

The installation for the confectionery brand now features two augmented-reality games. The first of these gives customers the chance to build Dubai’s skyline using 360g Toblerone bars and the second game lets customers use a Toblerone Tiny bag to catch miniature bars of Toblerone. Video footage of the games and scores are then added to a leader board and can be shared on social media.

Mondelez WTR is targeting “Next-Gen travellers, who are highly connected and always on the lookout for unique experiences.”

The adjacent wall now features a holographic display highlighting the various Toblerone Tiny flavours and depicts their journey from Switzerland to Dubai.

Mondelez World Travel Retail Managing Director Jaya Singh said: “Digital is ingrained in Mondelez World Travel Retail’s vision as part of our commitment to driving category growth by delighting all travellers – including Next-Gen travellers, who are highly connected and always on the lookout for unique experiences.

“Introducing our new hologram display in Dubai International for the first time highlights not only our long-term commitment to digital innovation, but also to Dubai Duty Free as our valued partner.

Dubai Duty Free Senior Vice President of Purchasing Saba Tahir added: “At Dubai Duty Free, we aim to provide our travellers with a world-class shopping environment and this latest digital innovation from Mondelez World Travel Retail is a fine example of how brands can contribute to the creation of our desired consumer experience.”
