Momentum builds behind Summit of the Americas as early exhibitor bookings confirmed

AMERICAS. Momentum is building behind the pioneering Summit of the Americas – A Virtual Experience, which will be held on 5-9 April 2021, with exhibitor bookings growing, commitments from travel retailers across the Americas to participate, and a strong Knowledge Hub educational programme planned.

Among the early exhibitors to book are Ferrero, Mondelez, Essence Corp, Monarq Group, Proximo Spirits, Duty Free Global, Zimpex, Spark and Lego, with more to be announced soon.

The all-digital event is being organised by trade associations International Association of Airport and Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) and Asociación Sudamericana de Tiendas Libres (ASUTIL) in partnership with The Moodie Davitt Report (which organised the successful Virtual Travel Retail Expo from 12-16 October). The organisers held a virtual press conference today to discuss the event.

The digital Summit will allow retailer and airport delegates to visit exhibitors; enter closed chat rooms with them; view new launches and existing products in brochure, video and pictorial form; and much more besides in a private business format.

ASUTIL Secretary General José Luis Donagaray said the platform was chosen for its ease of use and range of powerful digital touchpoints. Discussing the Knowledge Hub programme, he said: “We will feature a wide variety of conference sessions, with airports, retailers and suppliers. We will discuss the future of brands in the channel; digitalisation and humanisation; new consumers; leadership; the future of the store, channels such as borders, cruise and airlines, an economic overview on Latin America and issues such as sustainability.”

He added: “Importantly we have the full commitment of operators from all over the Americas and from every channel, including the new Brazilian border business. It is a great opportunity for suppliers to engage with all of them and to prepare their strategies for the year ahead.”

IAADFS President and CEO Michael Payne added: “The retailers are fully committed and engaged, and we will have many people coming from each company, which is critical.

“We have made an early push for exhibitors, and will announce more soon. We are excited about the platform. There is great flexibility in the technology, allowing partners to do exactly what they want. It is user-friendly, cost-effective and a way to keep us all connected.”

Unparalleled media coverage

The Moodie Davitt Report is the official media title of the 2021 Summit of the Americas – A Virtual Experience.

We will be producing a special digital edition that, uniquely, will be emailed to all exhibitors and registered visitors on the eve of the show.

All advertisers in that edition will receive a bonus advertisement in the Summit of the Americas Guide, a comprehensive aid to the event.

Other media titles will also be supporting the event. Official Preferred Media Partners will be able to showcase their publications in the Summit’s Press Centre (please contact IAADFS or ASUTIL for details) to ensure the widest possible visibility for the event and for exhibitors.

The Moodie Davitt Report Chairman Martin Moodie said: “It’s important that we have proof of concept. The platform and technology we used at our event in October was well attended, notably by those in the Americas travel retail community from airports to retailers. We expect them to return in even greater numbers. People can come from all levels, from CEO to store manager, without leaving their office or home.

“The platform is user-friendly, put together by our partner FILTR. There are great analytics on offer to our partners, with some new innovations planned. We have learnt some lessons from the previous event. We will have a nice mix of conference sessions with time in between them. Anything that is missed can be viewed on demand. The media titles in the industry can have a great digital showcase and will get good mileage from the event too. With two strong associations involved, it will make for a successful event.”

Special discounted pricing is on offer for ‘Early Bird’ stand bookings confirmed by Friday, 18 December or booked by members of IAADFS and/or ASUTIL.

Visitor registration is also open at the official event website, which is now live. Click on the video on this page for a show preview explaining the experience to exhibitors and visitors.

For exhibitors there are three tiers of virtual packages from which to choose, offering multiple options to display products, deliver brand and product presentations, offer virtual tours of their facilities and showrooms, and connect with buyers. These spaces will be curated by Virtual Stand & Experience Partner, FILTR.

Event sponsorship options are also available through our team.

The Summit is open to airports and all other landlords from travel-related sectors; retailers, food & beverage operators and other commercial service providers; brands, agents & distributors; media; and other relevant parties.
