Misaki pearls the Americas; opens first shop-in-shops – 05/04/06

MONACO. Pearl jewellery specialist Misaki is stepping up its distribution across the Americas following the signing of a new deal with US company World’s Best Brands.

Following a recent launch ceremony in Miami, World’s Best Brands is rolling out Misaki’s product range in Florida, Washington and California.

In addition, the brand has clinched a deal with Dufry in its Americas locations such as Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, as well as the retailer’s cruiseships.

Also in the Americas, Alpha Retail has been selling the brand in its Orlando and Miami airport stores, with distribution starting now in the company’s European outlets.

Further listings in Central and South America and the Caribbean include three points of sale with InterBaires in Buenos Aires; as well as with EJE Retail at New York Newark Airport; Motta Internacional; Waked Internacional; Aldeasa and Brasif.

Misaki inaugurates shop-in-shop concept

In major retail news, Misaki is accelerating the roll-out of its shop-in-shop concept, with the first such outlet trading at Printemps department store in Paris.

Said Misaki Managing Director Philipp Wille during the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas last week: “Our products have been selling in Printemps department store in Boulevard Haussmann for three weeks now and it is going very well. The shop-in-shop concept offers the same margins as our own shops [would do]. Another Printemps shop-in-shop is opening this week at La Nation in Paris.”

As well as the two shop-in-shops in Paris, Printemps is carrying Misaki jewellery at its Marseille and Rouen outlets.

Wille is also in negotiations with a leading department store group in Portugal to open shop-in-shops.

Wille reported that Misaki is among the top-selling products onboard British Airways short-haul flights and on Singapore Airlines.

Misaki is also expanding with the Chalhoub group in the Middle East within its own network and with third parties.

On the product front, the company is adapting its packaging and displays in order to be much more modern in style, Wille added.
