Microsoft and other tenants strike deals to open at Zürich Airport’s The Circle complex

SWITZERLAND. Zürich Airport has secured further tenancy agreements – including Microsoft – for lifestyle and business complex The Circle, which will open in late 2019.

As reported, the US$1.1 billion off-terminal project will cover 180,000sq m split into seven modules: Brands & Dialogue; Hotels & Convention; Headquarters & Offices; Health & Beauty; Education & Knowledge; Counsel & Arts; and Culture & Events.

Between them, newly announced tenants Microsoft, Spaces and Abraxas will rent a total of 9,000sq m in the Headquarters & Offices module.

Microsoft Switzerland will relocate its head office from Wallisellen to Zürich Airport and create what it called the “workplace of the future” in 3,500sq m. Zürich Airport noted: “Microsoft will work on developing an innovative business district offering cutting-edge technology. This technology partnership aims to bring new impetus to the destination and to create an inspiring place for encounters that combines networking, contemporary work styles and new shopping experiences.”

The International Workplace Group IWG, a leader in flexible office spaces, will occupy 3,000sq m at The Circle. It will offer other partners the flexibility to rent additional office space on a temporary or long-term basis, said Zürich Airport.

The third tenant, with over 2,500sq m, is Abraxas, which will be created from the merger of Abraxas Informatik AG with Verwaltungsrechenzentrum St. Gallen in April 2018. The company has decided to consolidate its regional activities at The Circle by 2020. Zürich Airport said it could thereby “exploit synergies with other modules, rental partners and The Circle’s good access to the Zürich-St. Gallen corridor.”
