USA. WHSmith subsidiary Marshall Retail Group has opened its first rail store at Moynihan Station in New York City (NYC).

Gotham News features a range of locally-sourced artisan snacks including Treat House, Legally Addictive, Tate’s Bake Shop, Eleni’s New York Cookies, along with handcrafted gifts from New York-based Literie Candles, Soprano Labs, and others.

Gotham News has partnered with NYC’s Strand Book Store to provide travellers with a curated collection of books, with travel accessories also featured in the store.

Marshall Retail Group CEO Toby Keir said: “To open a store inside the remarkable Moynihan Train Hall in the Penn District is truly an honour.

“This building carries so much history in New York City, and we are grateful to partner with a committed landlord like Vornado and be a part of this incredible neighbourhood transformation, making travel for commuters convenient, luxurious and enjoyable.”

Moynihan Train Hall is billed as New York City’s “newest grand civic icon”.

The US$1.6 billion project transforms the 100+ year-old James A. Farley Post Office Building into a modern, world-class transit hub – an idea first proposed by the late US Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan more than a quarter-century ago.

In addition to state-of-the-art passenger amenities, Moynihan Train Hall features a range of shopping and dining options.
