Passenger traffic at T4 has increased since the arrival of Delta Air Lines |
USA. Eight new restaurants opened at John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4 in 2015, as part of a programme of updates of its food & drinks offer which will continue in 2016.
T4 is operated by management company JFKIAT, and all of the new restaurants are managed by SSP America.
With an emphasis on catering for a “diverse passenger mix reflective of New York City”, the new outlets were selected to provide a wide range of options for travellers.
Canal St. Noodle House is a Southeast Asian market created exclusively for T4, and offers customised noodle bowls and Vietnamese-style sandwiches. Another highlight is Urban Crave, which serves authentic street cuisine in a storefront featuring vintage decor complete with warehouse bricks, reclaimed hardwood floors and a kitchen centred below a copper grill hood.
Manhattan favourite Bento Sushi serves “˜grab-and-go’ sushi and Japanese entrees, while Camden Food Express offers a selection of healthy choice options.
Jamba Juice also focuses on providing healthier food and beverages, while Dunkin Donuts Express serves hot and iced coffees and baked goods.
Flatiron Coffee is a contemporary coffee shop located in the retail lounge, and features an assortment of coffee choices sourced locally from Irving Farms as well as pastries provided by New York artisanal bakery Eli Zabar.
Finally, Pizza Vino reopened in 2015 after undergoing an expansion which included the addition of a full-service bar.
SSP America President and CEO Michael Svagdis said: “SSP America understands that Terminal 4’s passenger base anticipates quality and a taste of home, and our team is proud to deliver on that expectation. We are excited to continue our partnership with JFKIAT to further expand the incredible portfolio of food and beverage establishments in the terminal.”
JFKIAT and SSP America said they would bring additional food and beverage options to the terminal in 2016, with NY Street Foods among the outlets set to open later this year.
The food & drinks upgrade is part of an ambitious programme to rejuvenate Terminal 4. The project was extensively covered in the February/March 2015 issue of The Moodie Report, in a feature you can read here.
