Louis Vuitton appoints Johnny Coca as Fashion Leather Goods Director

Louis Vuitton has appointed Johnny Coca as Fashion Leather Goods Director. He will start on 2 June and report to Louis Vuitton Women’s Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière.

Johnny Coca started his fashion career as a leather goods designer at Louis Vuitton from 1996 to 2000. He also worked for several prestigious fashion houses including Céline.

He was appointed Mulberry’s Creative Director in 2015, where he successfully transformed the British heritage brand’s leather and accessories lines.

In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Coca said: “It’s with great pride that I join Nicolas Ghesquière and the Louis Vuitton teams to further develop the women’s handbag collections. For me, the journey now has come full circle, to the place where I was lucky enough to hone my passion first-hand and learn the fundamentals of leather craftsmanship in the ateliers at Asnières.

“It opens a new chapter in my own creative adventure, in an extraordinary laboratory that blends heritage and modernity.”
