SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free is hosting its first marketing campaign of 2023, themed ‘Jumping New Year’, to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.
The promotion, targeted at Korean customers, runs until 5 March. Lotte Duty Free will present two tickets for a four-day, three-night trip to Guam to the two Korean customers with the highest combined online and offline spend.
The package includes a round-trip ticket with Korean Air and a voucher to stay at a Lotte Hotel.
In addition, a prize draw will be held among Korean customers who spend more than US$300 at a Lotte Duty Free downtown store or US$100 at the retailer’s Incheon International Airport stores during the campaign, offering a voucher for three nights at Lotte Hotel Guam.

The Korean number one and world number two travel retailer has unveiled a related array of marketing activities, including discounts of up to -80% on selected items from renowned international brands such as Stuart Weitzman, Coach and Bally.
In addition, up to KRW4 million (US$3,150 worth of LDF PAY), which can be used like cash at Lotte Duty Free stores, is being given out, scaled according to the purchase amount. Discount coupons worth up to KRW50,000 (US$40) at Lux Mall (an offline mall exclusively for domestic clearance of duty free products) are also being offered.
In related Lunar New Year news, Lotte Duty Free has collaborated with Rabbitory Studio to showcase the ‘LDF Rabbit’ in celebration of the Year of the Rabbit.
The bright and cute black rabbit character is designed to appeal to MZ customers (a pairing of two groups – Millennials and Generation Z). Lotte Duty Free plans to use LDF Rabbits across its online and offline stores to greet customers.
A Lotte Duty Free spokesperson said, “We plan to hold a range of gift and discount events for customers travelling abroad during the Lunar New Year holiday.”
