Lotte Duty Free seeks expansion in Vietnam and other overseas markets

ASIA. Lotte Duty Free is partnering with Cam Ranh International Terminal to exhibit at route development forum Routes Asia 2019.

The companies will have a joint booth at the event, which is being held in Cebu, Philippines between 10 and 12 March.

Lotte Duty Free will have a joint booth with Cam Ranh International Terminal at Routes Asia.

Lotte Duty Free currently operates at Da Nang International and Cam Ranh International airports in Vietnam, and said it was planning to open new stores in the country within the next year. As reported, passenger traffic between Incheon International and Da Nang International in central Vietnam was the fastest-growing route in Asia Pacific in 2018, according to Routesonline, using figures from the OAG Schedules Analyser (OAG).

The retailer’s aim in exhibiting is to help attract new routes to the airports, promote its operations there, and ultimately expand the number of overseas markets it operates in.

“Through this joint booth operation, Lotte Duty Free will not only advertise its global operating capabilities to the world, but also build a bridgehead for overseas business sales expansion by expanding routes,” Lotte said. An increase in passenger traffic will naturally have a positive impact on duty free sales, it added.

Routes Asia attracts senior decision makers from the region’s air service development community, including airlines, airports and tourism offices. The event is organised by Routes, a UBM company.
