Lotte Duty Free launches LDF digital payment system

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free is launching LDF PAY, a new digital payment platform, describing it as an industry first.

Korea’s biggest duty free retailer, and the world number two, said, “It is the industry’s first online pay-per-view alternative to existing prepaid cards.”

LDF PAY, to be launched on 27 May, is based on Lotte’s membership programme and can be used for both online and offline purchases. Online and offline shopping rewards are linked through the system.

Pointing the way forward: Lotte Duty Free describes the digital payment platform as an industry first.

Shoppers need to become members to use the programme. Registering as a VIP member offline or signing up online allows the holder to instantly use the platform and receive rewards.

LDF PAY, which replaces the existing prepaid card system, features a computerised link to member information.

Lotte Duty Free is preparing a variety of benefits and incentives for the launch, which will be celebrated from 27 May over ensuing weeks.

Director of Marketing Kim Jeong-hyun said, “Lotte Duty Free is introducing this form of customer benefit and payment method… for the first time in the industry. We will continue to lead the industry by improving customer convenience through continuous innovation.”
