Loch Lomond Group rolls out largest-ever travel retail activation at Heathrow T5

Scotch whisky distiller Loch Lomond Group has partnered with World Duty Free to launch its largest global travel retail initiative to date at London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5.

The animation showcases the company’s Loch Lomond Whiskies and Glen Scotia single malt brands in an interactive space until 24 April.

Loch Lomond Whiskies recently announced a five-year partnership with The Open, golf’s original championship. The space in the World Duty Free store presents ‘The Spirit of The Open’, with large colour display screens featuring imagery of the Scotch whisky distilleries and The Open.

Travellers can view the Claret Jug trophy at the activation from 17 to 20 April and enter a competition to win tickets to The Open. This is the first time the trophy has been displayed in Terminal 5.

The promotional space also showcases independent Campbeltown distillery Glen Scotia, featuring visuals, products and sampling to highlight the heritage and craftsmanship championed at the distillery.

Loch Lomond Group Global Marketing Director Muriel Raguenaud said: “We’re delighted to be introducing our first large-scale activity featuring the partnership between Loch Lomond Whiskies and The Open. Travellers will not only be able to discover more about our superb range of single malts, they will also have the chance to view the iconic Claret Jug on display and enter a competition to win tickets to the 147th Open at Carnoustie.”

Loch Lomond Group Managing Director of Global Travel Retail André de Almeida commented: “We continue to work in partnership with World Duty Free to establish our Loch Lomond Whiskies and Glen Scotia single malts on a global stage. In March, we released an exclusive Loch Lomond Inchmurrin Single Cask bottling to celebrate the tenth anniversary of London Heathrow Terminal 5, which sold out in less than a week. Building on Loch Lomond Whiskies’ status as ‘The Spirit of The Open’, this new experience is our largest global travel retail marketing initiative to date and forms part of our ambitious worldwide roll-out of our brands into the channel.”

World Duty Free Commercial Category Manager Kathryn Kindness said: “We’re happy to provide a platform for Loch Lomond Group to showcase its Loch Lomond Whiskies and Glen Scotia single malts. The eye-catching installation is sure to attract the attention of travellers keen to explore the fabulous single malts on offer. After its launch in our Heathrow Terminal 5 store, the Loch Lomond Whiskies and Glen Scotia single malts will be similarly showcased in July in our stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow.”

Loch Lomond Group’s partnership with World Duty Free follows the introduction of the company’s global travel retail Scotch whisky range at all 16 World of Whiskies outlets in airports throughout the UK.
