USA. The Kansas City Aviation Department has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking a partner to manage the concessions programme at the US$1.5 billion New Terminal at Kansas City International Airport.
As reported, the airport aims to recruit a partner to develop, sublease, operate and manage the programme. Along with partners ICF and Phillips West the Aviation Department hosted a Virtual Concessions ‘Meet and Greet’ on 12 and 13 January.
When it opens in early 2023, the facility will replace the airport’s ageing terminals, which opened in 1972. The New Terminal will be built in the footprint of the airport’s existing Terminal A, which has been decommissioned.

The airport company said it wants a programme that is ‘Made of Kansas City’. The selected developer will oversee service across food service, retail and passenger services.
At just over one million square feet, the Kansas City International Airport New Terminal, Build KCI, is the largest single infrastructure project in the city’s history. The facility will open with 39 gates and the ability to expand up to 50 gates in the future. The New Terminal will also include a 6,000+ space parking structure, which will be constructed adjacent to the terminal building, a central utility plant, and landside and airside improvements.
Technical proposals are due by 3 June, with financial bids by 24 June. A non-mandatory pre-proposal virtual conference will be held on 25 February.
