Kansai Airports set to unveil 1,090sq m walk-through duty free area

JAPAN. Kansai Airports is to open its International Terminal 2 on 28 January, featuring a 1,090sq m walk-through duty free shopping area.

It is claimed to be the first walk-through style duty free space at a Japanese airport and forms part of a wider 1,640sq m shopping area at Kansai International, with other retail and food & beverage outlets.

Shops selling cosmetics, confectionery, electrical appliances, tobacco, and other items will be arranged along a main aisle to optimise the customer experience, Kansai Airports said. Speciality outlets such as drug stores and watch shops will also feature.

Two restaurants serving ‘Japanese’ and ‘Kansai area’ speciality dishes are included in the mix at the new terminal, while other restaurants will cater to travellers’ wider tastes.

Services available at the terminal will include ATMs, foreign currency exchange, and insurance vending machines.
