SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free’s brand power was on show over the weekend (9-11 August) as 30,000 guests attended the Lotte Duty Free Family Concert.
The annual celebration, which this year took place in Seoul’s Olympic Gymnastic Arena, saw K-pop royalty perform for the international crowd.

On 9 August, Ji Chang-wook, Kim Gun-mo, Kim Yeon-woo and Lim Chang-jung performed at the concert. 10 August was then a day dedicated to K-beat with MFBTY and Dynamic Duo catching the eye.

On 11 August some of the biggest names in K-pop performed. Super Junior, Twice, Hwang Chi-yeul and Stray Kids all performed before BTS took to the stage. Such was the scale of the occasion, BTS’s management company announced after the show that the Lotte concert had been the band’s last performance before an unexpected hiatus.

Fans queued up overnight for the show and Lotte had prepared for this by having a shaded waiting area with readily available bottled water. Mock emergency drills had also been conducted before the event and bracelets were offered for those that might become separated from their family.

Underprivileged and disabled guests were invited to the show. Lotte invited 20 Korean, Chinese and Japanese people to enjoy the concert; these people will get to visit the tourist attractions of Seoul and have a meeting on improving accessibility for disabled people after the concert.
