Came Activate: Part of the latest round of new product investment from JTI in travel retail |
Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has unveiled two new line extensions to the Camel brand family for the travel retail channel.
Camel Black & White is a line extension to the Camel brand family, and an American Blend type of cigarette.
The packs have been designed in a contemporary and minimalist style to meet the demands of modern adult smokers, said the brand owner.
By the end of 2012, Camel Black & White will be available in 25 duty free markets around the world. The line will be rolled out initially through domestic markets.
Camel is also introducing the “Camel Fresh” concept with Activate, a new product that gives the smoker a choice of taste. The filter is made with “crush capsule” technology to enhance flavour, said JTI.
Camel Activate will be launched during 2012 in 11 duty free markets.
“True to our reputation of leaders in innovation and quality, we are constantly looking to inspire our customers with the highest quality products and Camel Black & White and Activate are good examples of that”, said David Francis, JTI’s General Manager WWDF Vice President.
Among the other forthcoming initiatives are further extensions to the Camel “˜Discover the World’ campaign, which features new pack designs every year. A limited edition for Chinese travellers, featuring the most visited cities by the Chinese, will be among the new additions to the range. Most limited editions run for just a two-month period, but if successful, the Chinese travel line will become a permanent feature of the range.
Also new is Sobranie SuperSlims, aimed at the prestige end of the market, notably in eastern Europe. It comes in three versions: black, white and pink. It features JTI’s “˜less smoke smell’ technology, which until now has only been available in Asia Pacific.
The line has already been made available in Russia, Ukraine and Romania, and will roll out into nine travel retail markets by the end of 2012.
JTI is also continuing the expansion of its acclaimed Smoking Lounges, with the latest a series of new installations at Dubai International Airport. Between now and year-end JTI will have opened five lounges there, including one of 240sq m – the largest smoking lounge in the world so far.
Elsewhere, the company is adding five new locations at Zürich Airport, with ten to follow at Frankfurt Airport and further openings planned at key Russian airports.
