Jessica Chastain, the ambassadress for YSL’s new fragrance, Manifesto

Yves Saint Laurent has announced American actress Jessica Chastain as the ambassadress for the brand’s new feminine fragrance, Manifesto.

The up-and-coming star is known for her roles in Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life, Tate Taylor’s The Help and Jeff Nichols’ Take Shelter. She also starred in John Hillcoat’s Lawless, which competed for the Palme d’Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival last month. In addition to her Best Supporting Actress nominations at the BAFTA Awards, the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards this year, Chastain was acknowledged as one of the world’s most “˜influential women’ by Time magazine last April.

“Yves Saint Laurent is a brand that inspires me deeply. Since its creation, the brand has conveyed strong values that I cherish, such as unwavering commitment, absolute love and feminine audacity,” commented Chastain. “This new fragrance is the emblem of it all. I am thrilled to be a part of this beautiful adventure.”

Yves Saint Laurent Beauté International General Manager Stephan Bezy said: “We were won over by the very subtle strength of Jessica Chastain, her solar charm, her free mind. Jessica embodies the quintessence of Saint Laurent’s femininity, a woman of her day and age, independent, determined, never where you expect her to be.”

Described as spontaneous and free-spirited, Manifesto contains notes of jasmine, lily of the valley, blackcurrant, cedar core and sandalwood, as well as vanilla and Tonka bean.
