Itsu brings Asian-inspired healthy fast food to Gatwick Airport

UK. British fast food chain Itsu has opened at Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal, the brand’s third UK airport outlet.

Itsu is known for Asian-inspired and health-conscious options. Menu items – which include sushi, salads, wraps, noodles and soups – are created with nutrition in mind and clearly labelled with calorie content.

Gatwick Airport said the decision to open the 310sq m store followed growing consumer demand in the UK for healthy and varied grab-and-go meal options.

The London airport said that Itsu’s offerings stand out because they are “beautifully presented and delicious, as well as nutritious, low-calorie and affordable”, noting that Itsu food is prepared freshly each day and is free of MSG.

Itsu has created an evolving seasonal menu for the new restaurant. Cold options include hand-crafted sushi, low-carb salads and Tokyo wraps. Hot options include noodles, soups, rice bowls and gyoza dumplings. There will also be a monthly Gatwick Bento Box.

Gatwick believes that travellers are increasingly looking for healthy options at the airport, making Itsu’s health-conscious Asian-inspired menu the“perfect” choice.

Gatwick Airport Food & Beverage Business Development Manager Helen Teschauer said: “This is a key restaurant opening for Gatwick and it’s exciting to be bringing such a popular UK brand to our South Terminal.

“Feedback suggests that our 46 million annual passengers appreciate fresh, healthy food options being available at the airport while they await their flight, and Itsu meets this demand perfectly.”
