Innovative ROCKS Whiskey Chilling Stones extends travel retail footprint

ROCKS Whiskey Chilling Stones, an innovative brand inspired by an old Scottish tradition, is targeting growth in travel retail.

The brand specialises in granite stones which act as an alternative to adding ice to spirits. The stones are presented in gift sets which include The Original Rocks, featured inflight with Korean Air Skyshop since April. The product sold out within the first week.

The listing, which has been extended to Jin Air, marked ROCK’s debut in Korean travel retail. ROCKS products are also featured with Prouds Duty Free in Fiji.

The Original Rocks pack includes six granite chilling stones which are presented in a wooden storage and presentation tray.

According to ROCKS Founder Quentin Depigny, the stones echo a 19th Century Scottish tradition which “promises to awaken your senses in the most authentic way”.

He commented: “ROCKS offers whisky connoisseurs the opportunity to enjoy the spirit at an ideal tasting temperature without diluting it.”

“We are committed to presenting a product assortment that will enlarge the offer for the wines and spirits category and develop sales through cross-selling and gifting,” Depigny added.

“The collaboration with Korean Air is a key milestone for the brand and we are very pleased to introduce our products to the Korean market and beyond. The partnership also shows the interest and demand from travelling customers for new, unique and upscale gifts products.

“We believe there is a market opportunity in the gifting/accessory niche of the wines and spirits category. In addition to being a complementary product, we enable operators to cross or upsell and enlarge their offering with upscale whiskey connoisseur gifts, which are hardly represented in duty free.

“Travel retail also offers the perfect shopping experience for our brand to excel.”

Depigny was in Singapore earlier this month to attend the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition. “It was a fantastic trade show, offering most companies the first time to actually see and feel our products. The feedback was very positive,” he said. ✈
