Inflight Sales Group inks deal to offer duty free retail on board Transaero

RUSSIA. Inflight Sales Group (ISG) has signed an agreement with Russian travel services provider Aero Trade LLC to offer duty free retail programmes on board Russian airline Transaero from 15 May.

The deal marks ISG’s fourth airline programme in Russia, following its launch on board Aeroflot in spring 2014, and the inflight retail programmes on board DonAvia and Rossiya which began last month.

Established in 1991, Aero Trade LLC operates nine duty free ground shops and provides inflight duty free and other services to its airline customers at 11 airports across Russia. In 2013, it launched what is said to be the first-ever rail duty free shop in St Petersburg.

Inflight Sales Group Director Europe Karen Durban said: “ISG is very pleased to be partnering with Aero Trade in this business; they have a long history in the duty free industry and are a very forward-looking company, being the first and only company to offer rail duty free in Europe.”

Inflight Sales Group Managing Director Tony Detter added: “We are quite optimistic about the future business on board Transaero. They have a broad network, and are flying to many regions where ISG has significant historical information on preferences and market intelligence on market trends, so we believe the combination of Aero Trade and ISG will offer many advantages to the airline.”

Based at Moscow Domodedevo Airport, Transaero – said to be Russia’s second largest airline – operates an extensive domestic network as well as international services to 56 destinations across Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East, carrying 13.2 million passengers in 2014. It claims to have the largest fleet of long-haul wide-body aircraft in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe, with an active fleet of 95, and 47 aircraft on order.
