Incheon International again retenders problematic T2 fashion & accessories contract

SOUTH KOREA. Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) again reissued its tender for the troubled DF3 fashion & accessories concession on Friday (12 May). There have been no offers across three earlier bids.

DF3 covers 14 stores embracing 4,889sq m of retail space. Bidding has been adversely affected by the cost of entry and the collapse in Chinese tourism caused by the THAAD dispute between South Korea and China.

“We have retendered a fourth time with a -20% reduced MAG,” IIAC Deputy Executive Director, Commercial Marketing Group, Bum-Ho Kim told The Moodie Davitt Report. Last time around IIAC reduced the MAG by -10%.

“We will close the tender on May 23rd and we will not open the bidding for DF1/DF2 winners (Shilla/Lotte) this time by Korea Customs Service’s request.”

Unfashionable fashion: The DF3 contract is proving devilishly difficult to award, leaving Incheon International Airport Corporation with a major headache just months before T2 opens. The other contracts have been awarded as follows: DF1, The Shilla Duty Free; DF2, Lotte Duty Free; DF4 SM; DF5 Entas Duty Free; DF6 CItyPlus
