UAE. Who said the sky is the limit?

Not Dubai Duty Free certainly as the travel retailer proved when literally jump starting its milestone 40th anniversary celebrations {The Moodie Davitt Report is dedicating unprecedented coverage to this landmark, culminating in our on location coverage on 20 December – 40 years to the day since Dubai Duty Free opened to the public}.

The festivities have already reached new heights via a branded skydive at Skydive Dubai in Mina Seyahi.

To mark four decades of high-flying success, a professional skydiver from Skydive Dubai ascended to 5,500 feet above Skydive Dubai Palm Dropzone and jumped at 60mph through the air.

Now that’s what you call a way to open a campaign

Fitted with a red 3×5-metre banner bearing Dubai Duty Free’s 40th Anniversary logo and the line ‘Celebrating 40 years of retailing service’, the skydiver sailed over 80 assembled Dubai Duty Free employees, headed by Dubai Duty Free Joint COO Salah Tahlak.

Dubai Duty Free once again proves its expertise at controlling overheads

The Dubai Duty Free Team gathered in a ‘40’ formation on the ground as they looked up and waved Dubai Duty Free 40th anniversary flaglets before touch down.

For the final act, the skydiver folded the banner and handed it over to Salah Tahlak before the group photo. A professional skydiving cinematographer jumped along with the skydiver to capture it all on a video, which will be posted in all Dubai Duty Free social media platforms.

Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, Colm McLoughlin said, “This is really an exciting way to kick off our milestone 40th anniversary celebrations and this is just the beginning. Plans are in place to make this a memorable occasion for all our customers, partners, suppliers and employees.” ✈
