Image of the Day: ‘Into Light and Shadow’ with Cartier in Macau

Our regular feature celebrates important and/or memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns from the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

MACAU (CHINA). Our Image of the Day comes from leading luxury brand Cartier, which has transformed its boutique at T Galleria by DFS, Macau, Shoppes at Four Seasons with the ‘Into Light and Shadow’ experience.

The scenery of swirling paper clouds and clusters of gemstones “conjures a dance of light and shadow across the boutique” say the partners

The installation, a partnership with DFS Group, “conjures a dance of light and shadow across the boutique” with its scenery of swirling paper clouds and clusters of gemstones. It aims to evoke the brilliance of Cartier’s diamonds and the allure of the Maison’s collection.

Created exclusively for the Cartier Boutique for the festive season, the installation – which runs from November to January – was crafted in partnership with renowned Hong-Kong contemporary artist, Pauline Yau.

A dance of diamonds, paper and panthers

Leading from the boutique façade through to a centrepiece showcasing a curation of one-of-a-kind, high-end Cartier jewellery pieces, ‘Into Light and Shadow’ brings to life the playful nature of the Panther symbol, said the brand owner.

“Intricately cut paper ribbons, which have been delicately patterned with the Panther motif, float across the boutique in cloud-like formations and create enigmatic shades of light and dark.

“Nestled among the clouds lie a selection of semi-transparent gemstones, which cast light and colour onto the elegant white, gold, silver and mother-of-pearl material – the result mirrors the magical transformation of diamonds meeting light, each created through flawless cutting and presentation.”

The art installation accentuates the high-end collection on display, which is made up of more than 90 exclusive pieces, from solitaires to sets.
