Hudson unveils refurbished flagship store at Grand Central Terminal in New York

USA. Dufry company Hudson has reopened its flagship 2,500sq ft railway store in New York City’s Grand Central Terminal with a new, reimagined look after a major refurbishment project. The works have been completed in partnership with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and Metro-North Railroad.

A new era has begun for Hudson in Grand Central Terminal – which houses 60 shops and 35 places to eat – with a striking new look for its store

Hudson said the new look for the Hudson News travel convenience store continues to pay homage to the heritage of the building, while looking towards the future to meet the needs of the ever-evolving city as business travel and tourism return.

The spacious store features travel essentials, a strong news and books offer and New York branded merchandise

The store – which is located in the main concourse under the east staircase and opposite Grand Central Market – retains its sprawling archways and has a wide-open storefront that is reminiscent of the store’s original architectural design.

Inside, the new layout creates a more modern shopping experience. There is a choice of traditional checkout or the newly-introduced option to use one of three contactless self-checkout kiosks.

On offer in the store is an assortment of essentials across food & beverage, electronics, health and beauty, books, magazines, and newspapers. The store also has a strong Sense of Place, with New York branded merchandise prominent.

Hudson EVP and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Brian Quinn said: “We thank the MTA and Metro-North for recognising Hudson’s history here, and we look forward to working together once again to preserve the building’s legacy and now assist in the collective ‘return to normal’ efforts.

“Not only has our location at Grand Central Terminal held significant importance to me personally, as I began my career in travel retail here, but it’s also been a highly-recognised landmark in the local community for over three decades.”
