Hudson adds new concepts after eight-year contract win at Sea-Tac

USA. Hudson Group, in partnership with Warren’s News & Gift and MCSB, has confirmed details of new retail concepts at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac).

Hudson, recently floated on the New York Stock Exchange, was awarded two RFP packages at the west-coast gateway including an eight-year contract for six stores covering over 490sq m (5,270sq ft).

Hudson’s bids offered a brand mix that included popular local names representing Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, such as Elliott Bay Book Company, Filson, Hudson Alki Express and Something Silver.

“Our concepts are tailored to create a local sense-of-place, while also providing an unparalleled shopping experience,” commented Hudson Group President and CEO Joseph DiDomizio.

The new stores are operated via the joint venture Seattle Air Ventures. They join seven Hudson store concepts (recently converted from Hudson News units) as well as other retail operations at the airport where the company has been a partner since 2003. Last year Hudson added Made in Washington – a speciality store featuring locally-sourced food, arts and crafts, and kitchen products made by artisans.

The new offer includes popular local names such as Elliott Bay Book Company

Elliott Bay Book Company, founded 1973, has grown to become Seattle’s landmark independent bookstore. Filson, originally opened in 1897 to outfit prospectors going to the Yukon Territory during the Klondike Gold Rush, has become a sought-after outdoors brand among travellers.

Seattle-based Alki Bakery has partnered with Hudson for over 10-years. The new Hudson Alki Express combines a travel essentials and convenience store with coffee and snacks.

As part of the Airport Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Programme, Something Silver, a local women-owned and operated small business for 24 years, brings quality artisan jewellery to Sea-Tac.

The Hudson retail line-up is part of a much broader commercial offer, including new F&B concepts, recently announced by Sea-Tac.
