CHINA. Hainan Tourism Investment Duty Free Co (HTDF) is hosting a unique singing contest promotion to highlight awareness of the Hainan Tourism Duty Free Shopping Complex in Sanya.
The promotion, which runs from 4 September to 5 October, invites local residents and tourists to come and perform karaoke at the Hainan Tourism Duty Free Shopping Complex.
Those interested in participating in the singing contest can register via the HTDF official WeChat account and sign up for audition. The contest takes place every evening from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Participants who have successfully uploaded the video of their live performances on WeChat, the Little Red Book or Tiktok each receive a complimentary souvenir.
On the evening of 5 October, the top nine singers to have gotten the most ‘likes’ on the three social media platforms will compete in the grand finale and be voted by the audience. The winner of the month-long competition will receive a grand prize worth RMB100,000 (US$15,465).
HTDF hopes that more consumers will get to discover the store through the campaign. “This campaign is open to all Sanya residents and tourists. You don’t need to stand in a line or purchase a ticket – as long as you want to sing and like to sing, you’re welcome to join in,” said a Hainan Tourism Duty Free Shopping Complex spokesperson.
She said that with September traditionally being a low season for Hainan tourism, HTDF is taking this opportunity to look inward and enhance its capabilities. On the other hand, the company is actively trying to give back to local society by bringing more activities and entertainment to Sanya residents and boosting Sanya’s “nighttime economy”.
