Hot to Trot: Lotte Duty Free brings stellar line-up to 32nd Family Concert

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free today revealed a blockbuster line-up for its 32nd Lotte Duty Free Family Concert, as the mega-event returns on 16-18 June in physical form for the first time in four years.

The Family Concert, which forms an integral part of 2023-2024 Visit Korea Year, will feature top Korean artists in a drive to attract domestic and foreign customers.

The Lotte Duty Free Family Concert was first held in 2006. This year’s three-day extravaganza marks the 32nd event. The 30th and 31st versions were held virtually due to the pandemic.

The event has become synonymous with Lotte Duty Free. Some one million Koreans and international guests have attended previous physical concerts while the online equivalents held during the height of the pandemic attracted some 3 million views.

This year’s Family Concert will be held at Olympic Gymnastics Stadium (KSPO DOME) in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The first and second days will feature some of Korea’s top idol groups and artists in a series of K-Pop concerts. On 16 June, NCT DREAM, Stray Kids, STAYC, aespa, KINGDOM and Lee Chae-yeon will star, followed by Sung Si-kyung, Gummy, Crush, Jukjae, Itzy, and ENHYPEN on day two.

The third day features a K-Trot extravaganza starring Young Tak, Lee Chan-won, Jang Min-ho, Jang Yoon-jeong, Jin Simon and Song Ga-in. Lee Chan-won will also act as MC.

K-Trot, a pop genre dating back to the 1920s and which peaked in the 1960s and 1970s, has made a remarkable multi-generational comeback in South Korea.

Customers who spend US$300/$500/900 or more at Lotte Duty Free’s Myeong-dong flagship or its World Tower, Incheon International Airport and online stores will receive complimentary tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional ticket giveaway events are also being held for domestic and foreign customers using various Lotte Duty Free channels.

Lotte Duty Free is working closely with government agencies such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Visit Korea Committee and the Korea Tourism Organization, to attract international visitors to the event.

Each year until the pandemic struck, the Lotte Duty Free Family Concert drew a huge and adoring crowd

The retailer is planning a tour package in conjunction with domestic and overseas local travel agencies to encourage group tourists from Japan, China, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East to visit Korea and view the concert.

Lotte Duty Free CEO Kim Joo-nam said: “As this is a Family Concert that returns after the pandemic’s transition to endemic status, I hope that it will be an occasion where global customers can enjoy the return to their normal lives. Lotte Duty Free will continue to present various content that contributes to the globalisation of K-culture as we strive to attract foreign tourists.” ✈
