Hong Kong Airport passenger traffic maintains strong momentum

HONG KONG. Passenger traffic at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) rose by +3.5% to 5.5 million in September, maintaining the growth momentum of recent months.

The increase was driven mainly by a +7% year-on-year growth in Hong Kong resident travel. Passenger traffic to and from Southeast Asia and Japan recorded the most significant increases by region.

During the first nine months of 2016, HKIA handled 53.2 million passengers, an increase of +4.1% compared to the same period last year.

On a rolling 12-month basis, HKIA handled 70.6 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of +4.9%.
