Home-grown appeal: Emirates Leisure Retail to open Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen and Maggie Beer Kitchen at Adelaide Airport 

AUSTRALIA. Emirates Leisure Retail (ELR) has struck partnerships with South Australia’s most renowned winemaker, Penfolds, and renowned Australian cook, food author and restaurateur Maggie Beer to open at Adelaide Airport.

Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen is set to open in 2020 in the new retail and dining precinct within Adelaide’s domestic and international terminal, will offer travellers a premium food and wine experience. The architecturally curated space will deliver a distinctive luxury aesthetic and bring a taste of the winery’s Magill Estate to travellers on the go, ELR pledged.

The crafted menu will feature the best South Australian produce to complement Penfolds wines and ‘House Style’ – a philosophy upheld for 175 years. Travellers can also shop Penfolds extensive range of red and white wines to take on their journey.

Dubai-based ELR and fellow Emirates Group subsidiary Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI) have long enjoyed a close relationship with Penfolds, particularly through ELR’s acclaimed Le Clos luxury wines & spirits stores at DXB (Dubai International). Le Clos launched the world’s most complete collection of Penfolds Grange in 2014. In addition, MMI is Penfolds’ beverage partner in key markets across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Indian Ocean and also services some of the world’s leading airlines with pouring wines drawn from the Penfolds portfolio.

Maggie Beer Kitchen, slated for opening in 2021, will be a premium venue featuring a large dine in or takeaway offer with an all-day menu. The food offer will all be made on site using fresh South Australian produce, complemented by local beverages including popular Australian brand Hudsons Coffee.

Maggie Beer, dubbed “Australia’s most-loved cook”, is also a food author, restauranteur, food manufacturer and a regular celebrity guest on Australia’s MasterChef television series and co-host of The Great Australian Bake Off’.  She lives in the famed wine-making area of the Barossa Valley, northeast of Adelaide and continually profiles the best of cooking using seasonal produce from her farm. Her Maggie Beer Farmshop has become a highly popular tourist destination.

Both venues will feature a curated retail offering of products for travellers to take home. Maggie Beer Kitchen will retail a selection of her cookbooks and a large range of products for the pantry, including her extensive range of condiments.
