US. HMSHost and Alaska’s Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation (NSEDC) have announced the opening of the Norton Sound Seafood House at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC).

Norton Sound Seafood House is a locally-themed seafood restaurant which showcases the fisheries, resources and work of the small-boat fishermen of Northwest Alaska. HMSHost partnered with NSEDC, a local non-profit corporation, to develop the new dining option for ANC.

NSEDC’s goals are to support local fisheries and provide economic development through education, employment, training and financial assistance to its 15 member communities.

“We are very pleased to offer visitors the local flavour they look forward to enjoying when they visit our great state,” said Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Manager John Parrott. “Norton Sound Seafood House is an outstanding new addition to our food and beverage programme.”

Locally caught seafood is a key component of Norton Sound Seafood House’s menu, with items created by television personality chef Al Levinsohn. Selections include Chef Al’s Alaskan Crab Po Boy, Original Ale Battered Halibut Po Boy, and Original Ale Battered Halibut and King Crab Cake Dinner.

“NSEDC is excited to have the opportunity to partner the world-class crab, halibut and salmon of the Norton Sound region with the extensive experience and knowledge of HMSHost,” said NSEDC Chief Executive Janis Ivanoff. “The Norton Sound Seafood House offers our state’s visitors and residents alike the quality seafood that Alaska and the Norton Sound are so well known for.”

Located on Concourse C, the 4,125sq ft restaurant is designed to serve travellers both pre and post security. Norton Sound Seafood House provides seating for 122 in the post-security main dining area and seating for 14 in a pre-security “˜grab-n-go’ section.

In addition to the new Norton Sound Seafood House, HMSHost’s current ANC restaurant options include Humpy’s Great Alaskan Alehouse, Starbucks Coffee, Chili’s Too, Quiznos, Legends, Café Del Mundo and Upper One Lounge.

“HMSHost really enjoys making the traveller’s day better at Anchorage International Airport with this flavourful variety of popular restaurants and pubs. We also could not be more pleased to support the local community in partnership with Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation,” said HMSHost Vice President Business Development Stephen Douglas.
