“Hello, Hong Kong! We’re Back!” – United Airlines resumes non-stop flights between Hong Kong and San Francisco

HONG KONG, CHINA. In another boost for Hong Kong’s recovering tourism sector, United Airlines (UAL) announced today that it will resume its daily nonstop service eastbound from Hong Kong to San Francisco beginning 6 March 2023, the first United passenger flight service to and from the Special Administrative Region since the global pandemic began in 2020.

In a press release headed “Hello, Hong Kong! We’re Back!”, UAL said the first westbound flight from San Francisco to Hong Kong will depart on 3 March 2023.

United’s return is hugely positive news for Hong Kong’s stricken tourism sector

UAL Regional Director of Sales for Greater China, Korea and Southeast Asia Walter Dias, said, “We’re thrilled to be able to return to Hong Kong after nearly three years, enabling us to provide our Hong Kong customers with our convenient daily non-stop service to San Francisco again. We have nearly 40 years of long history in the Hong Kong market and our commitment to the market remains unchanged.”

San Francisco International Airport is United’s largest hub on the US West Coast and a gateway to Asia Pacific. United operates more than 200 daily departures from San Francisco International Airport, serving more than 100 destinations around the globe. The airport currently offers direct flights to more than ten Asia Pacific destinations including Auckland, Brisbane, Tokyo Haneda and Narita, Incheon, Melbourne, Papeete in Tahiti, Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney and Taipei.
