Hainan Tourism Investment Duty Free Co marks three key festivals with big promotional campaign

CHINA (HAINAN). Hainan Tourism Investment Duty Free Co (HTDF) is offering a series of discounts at Hainan Tourism Duty Free Shopping Complex (海旅免税城) in Sanya from 15 September until 15 October. The campaign celebrates this week’s Mid-Autumn Festival and upcoming National Day holidays, as well as the retailer’s own newly created HTDF 919 Shopping Festival.

During the ‘three festivals’ promotional period, shoppers can receive a CNY500 (US$77) cash voucher for every CNY1,000 (US$154) spent on beauty or fragrance products. Consumers can also enjoy up to -70% off on other duty free items. The offers are available both online and offline.

“This event is so cost-effective. It’s a no-brainer,” said one woman shopper from Sichuan on the opening day of the campaign. “The cashier even helped me navigate through all the promotional offers and figure out how to save even more. The service here is amazing.”

Another shopper, Mr. Zhong from Hunan, was also full of praise for the campaign. “I came to Sanya on a business trip this time so I was thinking about buying some cosmetics for my wife. I didn’t expect the teller to do all the calculations for me to help me save money. After buying three items and paying with a Bank of China credit card, it cost a total of CNY900 (US$140), which was really unexpected.”

Zhong bought an Estée Lauder eye cream double set for his wife, as well as a Shu Uemura makeup foundation for exactly CNY1,000 (US$155), and received a CNY500 (US$72.50) cash voucher. “I then used the voucher to buy a two-piece set of Shu Uemura’s Amber Perfect Cleansing Oil, which made it basically free,” he exclaimed.

On top of such in-store promotions, additional discounts are available to those using payment methods linked to HTDF’s banking partners. A single purchase of over CNY1,000 with a Bank of China credit card earns a CNY100 rebate, while shoppers spending CNY500 will get a CNY60 discount. A single transaction of CNY2,000 with a China Everbright Bank credit card will be discounted by CNY150.

China Merchants Bank credit card holders can enter a lucky draw to win up to CNY888 by spending CNY1,000 or more in a single transaction. Cardholders can receive a CNY100 e-voucher on the CMB Palm Life app, usable when spending CNY200 or more in a single transaction. Meanwhile, HTDF members who use American Express CNY cards through a POS machine can receive a shopping voucher worth CNY370 when spending CNY3,000 or more.

As reported, HTDF opened its 95,000sq m store last December with support from Lagardère Travel Retail. In August, the retailer added a wide array of fashion and high-end brand stores and 59 brands to its cosmetics and fragrance zone.
