Hainan offshore duty free sales gain strong traction in April

CHINA. Average daily retail sales across Hainan island’s offshore duty free shops reached CNY130 million (US$18.6 million), according to the Hainan Provincial Bureau of Statistics.

The performance, first revealed by New Hainan – part of Hainan Hinews, The Moodie Davitt Report’s strategic partner in the province – represents a 2.7 times increase year-on-year.

Beauty remains the key consumer drawcard

 In April, the number of tourists to the island increased +111.6%, and tourism revenue rose +136.3%, all much stronger than the previous month, New Hainan reported. ✈
