Hainan authorities react swiftly after COVID case reported in Sanya

CHINA. Sanya City has implemented strict closure and control management measures in multiple locations after a single COVID-19 case involving a visitor from Tianjin was confirmed yesterday.

According to Hainan Hinews Media Co, The Moodie Davitt Report’s strategic partner in Hainan province, the city immediately launched an emergency plan to curb any spread. Hainan province has remained largely COVID-free throughout the pandemic and local authorities have moved swiftly to keep it that way.

It implemented isolation control and coordinated inspections for relevant personnel, and organised control and disinfection measures for relevant places. Leaders from the Provincial Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters rushed to the scene to guide the disposal work as soon as possible.

The patient has been transferred to a designated hospital for isolation and treatment.

In a statement published on New Hainan (Hainan Hinews Media Co), the Sanya Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Work Headquarters said: “The general public is requested to pay attention to the information released by the official authority, do not panic, do not believe rumours, do not spread rumours, and actively cooperate with the epidemic prevention and control work.

“At the same time, we must continue to tighten the string of epidemic prevention and control, maintain a high degree of protection awareness, adhere to scientific and preventive measures such as wearing masks, washing hands frequently, ventilating frequently, not gathering, and maintaining a safe distance, and develop good personal hygiene habits.”
