Haikou duty free stores reopen but Sanya shops remain closed due to COVID outbreak

CHINA. Offshore duty free stores in Haikou reopened this morning (9 August) after a 24-hour closure due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Hainan.

As reported, the Haikou stores run by China Duty Free Group, GDF Plaza and Shenzhen Duty-Free Group/DFS Group were all forced to close temporarily from yesterday morning (8 August).

“Mova Mall is open as usual,” a CDFG spokesperson told The Moodie Davitt Report today. Shenzhen Duty-Free Group and GDF Plaza also confirmed the positive news to us.

Local authorities continue to battle the COVID-19 outbreak on the island, with most cases to date in Sanya to the south, which means that the stores there run by China Duty Free Group, CNSC and HTDF remain shut.
