Guerlain set to release Rouge G Legendary Reds collection in travel retail

Legendary Reds comprises three archival shades that pay homage to milestones in the house’s history

LVMH-owned beauty and fragrance house Guerlain has announced the release of the Rouge G Legendary Reds Collection, which pays homage to key milestones in the brand’s history. It will be launched in selected stores in global travel retail from January 2022.

The Rouge G Legendary Reds line comprises three archival shades reinterpreted in matte and satin  finishes.

“The Legendary Reds Collection showcases Guerlain’s expertise in lip makeup formed over almost two centuries. It celebrates the soul of Guerlain, the House’s incredible heritage,” commented Guerlain Makeup Creative Director Violette Serra.

Each shade is named after the year it was created: 1830 Rouge du Tigre, 1870 Rouge Impérial and 1925 Roi Des Rouges.

Rouge du Tigre is a flaming brick red which was the first-ever lip colour created for Guerlain Bloom of Rose, which was Founder Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain’s debut liquid product for adding colour to the lips and cheekbones. The shade was inspired by Asian lacquer art.

The collection, launching in global travel retail in January 2022, offers legendary red hues from Guerlain’s almost 200-year history

Rouge Impérial is a deep berry shade used in Guerlain’s first lip colour in stick Ne M’oubliez pas or ‘Never Forget Me’. The slightly-bluish tone honours Empress Eugénie (wife of Napoleon III) and the fabrics worn by French royals in the 19th century.

Finally, Roi des Rouges is a pure and intense red and pays tribute to the shade created by Guerlain for the Roaring Twenties.

Four new case expressions have been released to celebrate the line: Majestic Ruby, Royal Burgundy and Luxurious Garnet – each one stamped with the Guerlain logo.

Object of desire: The Guerlain Bee Logo is embroidered into a limited edition lipstick case adding artistry to the Legendary Reds line

The fourth case, the Legendary Bee Prestige Edition, is an exclusive limited edition lipstick bullet. It features an intricate bee embroidery crafted by Baqué Molinié, a Parisian embroidery studio.

The studio has reinterpreted the bee in red and gold pearls and decorated the velvet cover with a red honeycomb design. Each individually numbered lipstick is housed in a unique set and features Guerlain’s best-selling 214 shade.
