Germany scores! Steffen Brandt takes the lead in Moodie Davitt 2018 FIFA World Cup Charity Competition

INTERNATIONAL. Steffen Brandt, Co-Founder & Manager at Miami-based travel retail specialist InnoTRI (and former CEO of Heinemann Asia Pacific and Heinemann Americas), has shot (from outside the circle) to top of the league in The Great Moodie Davitt 2018 FIFA World Cup Charity Competition after the latest round of matches on Tuesday.

Steffen Brandt scores from the spot for Germany

The German, a passionate follower of his national team, heads a tightly packed race as the group stage nears its conclusion. With 45 points, Steffen is just one ahead of The Moodie Davitt Report CTO (Chief Touchline Observer) Matt Willey and former leader Tony Richardson of Duty Free Hunter.

As reportedKing Power International (Thailand), which controls English Premier League club Leicester City, is the event’s official brand partner.

The following prize monies will be awarded to the chosen charities of the winning contestants

1st – €3,000

2nd – €2,000

3rd – €1,000

Veteran travel retail consultant and journalist John Gallagher is doing rather better than his own national team, Scotland, which failed to make the finals. But then again his adopted nation is Argentina and no doubt he picked the country’s (dramatic) win over Nigeria allowing La Albiceleste (and John) to stay well in the hunt.

Steve Cox, Marketing Director at JCDecaux Airport in London, who no doubt has been watching the matches out of home, has been hovering just below the leaders for most of the competition, and sits ominously on 42 points.

Johan Schölvinck of Market Square in the Netherlands is one point back on 41, with long-time leader, Bahrain Duty Free Head of Operations Domnick O’Reilly, heading a quality quintet on 40. The others are Craig Pring of WHSmith; Jack MacGowan, departing CEO of Aer Rianta International; Denz Van Der List of Cabeau; and former front-runner Andre de Almeida, of Loch Lomond Group who has slipped from the high road to the low but still remains in contention.

Don’t count out Moodie Davitt Report Chairman Martin Moodie after a good day yesterday to be just seven off the lead in 14th place.

Today’s four matches (Mexico v Sweden; South Korea v Germany – Steffen, we suggest you opt for 4-0 to South Korea; Switzerland v Costa Rica; and Serbia v Brazil) are certain to see another shake-up in an ever-changing leaderboard.

Will Steffen net some more points, or will he be left Seoul-searching after a shock result? Will we see a Mexican wave farewell to Sweden’s chances after the latter’s sickening last-second loss to Germany earlier? Will Swiss efficiency come at a heavy cost to the men from Central America? And will those Brazilian supporters be going nuts or doing the samba on the streets of Moscow tonight?

Those questions and more will be answered in coming hours as The Great Moodie Davitt 2018 FIFA World Cup Charity Competition heats up.

Below is the league table from the morning of Wednesday 27 June. We’ll bring you an update after today’s matches.
