Lim Guek Boon (Casey Lim), Vice President of Global Consumer Boutique (Hainan) Trading Co Ltd, which oversees GDF Plaza, told visitors to the Expo: “We are proud and delighted to be able to participate in our first international event which is The Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo.

“GDF Plaza is continually catering to the personalised needs of consumers with the aim to develop a sophisticated, luxurious and aspirational shopping environment with more cutting-edge fashion design concepts and a more extensive range of merchandise. It also aims to provide exciting new brands, products, services, and experiences for duty free consumers on the offshore island. We welcome brands who are interested to work with us to visit our booth and connect with us for further discussion.”

Lim said that the company is well advanced in its preparatory work for the introduction of onshore duty free. “Our first onshore duty free store is planned to be in Mova Mall Aquarius with a total area of almost 3,000 square metres. The design concept will be complementary to our offshore duty free.

“This will see us marry the two businesses as one unit and serve different consumers with the same objective – that is to provide a sophisticated luxury experiential shopping environment and services.”

Getting ready for the next exciting chapter at GDF Plaza

Lim said that the development will be a “comprehensive commercial landmark in Haikou. Leveraging on Hainan Development Holding’s leading wholly state-owned company of Hainan, the project is designed to be a benchmark for luxury duty free retailing in Hainan Free Trade Port.”

GDF Plaza is also highlighting the strength of parent company Hainan Development Holdings during the Expo
