USA. Fraport USA has appointed Michael R. Mullaney as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from 1 May. He succeeds Brett Kelly, Fraport USA’s acting CEO and Senior Vice President of Operations, who will be leaving the retail development company (a subsidiary of Fraport) at the end of the month.

Mullaney is well known in the travel retail industry from his 18 years at Hudson Group, where he was most recently Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development.

He has over 30 years in the aviation business, spanning concession development, airport operations, aviation consultancy and education.

He previously oversaw the concession leasing and store reconstruction programmes at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, where he was Manager of Commercial and Business Development. He was also a consultant for the planning firms Aviation Planning Associates and TransPlan, Inc. and began his career at the Florida Department of Transportation’s Multimodal System Planning Bureau.

Fraport USA Chairman of the Board Balint Szentivanyi said: “We are very pleased to welcome Michael Mullaney – a seasoned industry expert to lead and grow Fraport USA beyond the pandemic. At the same time, I would like to thank Brett Kelly for his significant commitment and contributions and for navigating Fraport USA through an exceptionally challenging 2020. We would also like to thank our airport authorities, retail concession operators, ACBE entrepreneurs and all our key stakeholders for their enduring partnership – as we get back to business with renewed vigour and enthusiasm.”

Mullaney commented: “I am incredibly excited to assume this responsibility and lead our exceptionally talented team. Building on our established expertise, Fraport USA will lead the way in this newly evolving aviation environment to deliver new, safe and transformative passenger experiences at airports nationwide. We will continue to set the standard for customer-centric airport retail development, management and concession operations.”

Fraport USA develops and manages retail concessions programmes at major airports in the US, including Baltimore/Washington, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, New York-JFK Terminal 5, and Newark Terminal B.
