The Peach is Foreo’s first product in the hair removal market

SOUTH KOREA. Swedish beauty technology company Foreo has introduced its first IPL (intense pulse light) device called ‘Peach’ to Korean travel retail, in partnership with Hyundai Duty Free.

The Peach device offers at-home hair removal. It eliminates the need for customers to visit salons for costly IPL services, said Foreo, which is particularly relevant during the era of COVID-19.

“We are banking on the Peach to be the hottest device for Summer 2020, and we have the numbers to back it up” — Foreo Global Travel Retail Director Gary Leong

Foreo noted that despite the devastating effects of the COVID-19 crisis on the travel retail business, it was already looking forward to recovering sales. South Korea, it said, is among the markets in travel retail already seeing a rebound in consumer spending.

The Peach device was launched ahead of the Summer season, which Foreo predicts will be when recovery begins in Asia Pacific travel retail. It noted that the hair removal category has experienced steady growth in recent years, especially with frequent travellers.

Foreo is banking on the Peach device to be its star product for the Summer season

Foreo Global Travel Retail Director Gary Leong commented, “Retailers are reading the signs of recovery from consumers and gearing up for the summer season. As Foreo, we have set our strategy and action plan during the COVID-19 crisis earlier this year. There are more retail activations coming this summer to help boost the travel retail market bit by bit.”

According to Leong, the Peach device has already proven to be a hit in Hyundai Duty Free. He said: “We are banking on the Peach to be the hottest device for summer 2020, and we have the numbers to back it up. Peach is officially sold out at Hyundai Duty Free as of 7 May and we will be restocking soon.”
