Finavia reveals series of new retail openings for Helsinki Airport gate area

FINLAND. Finavia is to introduce a variety of new stores to the gate area at Helsinki Airport this summer and autumn. Among them will be shops from two Finnish brands, Balmuir and Marimekko, and a 1,500sq m Dufry-operated duty free shop.

Balmuir specialises in apparel, accessories and home interior products, while Marimekko offers fashion and home collections.

Finavia Helsinki Airport Director of Commercial Services Nora Immonen said: “The brands represented at Helsinki Airport act as business cards for Finland and Finnish design, even for the Finnish lifestyle. We believe that the passengers will be delighted by our improved selection.”

Immonen claimed that the new store from Dufry will become “Europe’s finest duty free shop”.

Opening later this month close to gates 27 and 28 are the fashion stores AERA Woman and AERA Man, adding to the recently-opened WHSmith kiosk and FOREX currency exchange.

On the food & beverage front, Finavia revealed it is about to open a new café concept, Kaffet Helsinki, in the gate area. This will precede a series of F&B openings planned for the same section of Helsinki Airport during 2023.

The new F&B additions will follow the recent opening of six new restaurants in the Arrivals Hall of the airport.

Immonen said: “Our air passengers appreciate the versatile, high-quality and fast restaurant offering. Our goal is to offer easy takeaway products, but also opportunities to take a moment together around excellent food and beverages.”
