Feeding America: Jersey Mike’s Subs to donate 20% of sales made this weekend to hunger relief charity

USA. Jersey Mike’s Subs is staging a special fundraising event this weekend, pledging to donate 20% of its sales on 20-21 November to Feeding America, the US’s largest hunger relief organisation. The fast food provider will donate a minimum of US$2.5 million to the cause.

Customers making purchases at Jersey Mike’s Subs over this weekend will see 20% of their bills go to the Feeding America charity

Across two national fundraisers last year Jersey Mike’s, which operates grab & go outlets throughout the US including at seven major airports, raised more than US$4.6 million for Feeding America. Its contributions helped to provide 46 million meals through the charity’s nationwide network of 200 local member food banks.

More than 38 million people face hunger in the US, according to the United States Department of Agriculture, Jersey Mike’s noted.

To contribute to this weekend’s fundraising initiative, customers can place orders in-store or for pickup through Jersey Mike’s website or app. Delivery is available through the app or third-party delivery partners.

Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems Founder and CEO Peter Cancro said: “The Thanksgiving season is always the busiest time of year for food pantries and food banks nationwide, and Feeding America helps where the needs are the greatest.

“We hope you join us at Jersey Mike’s this weekend to make a difference in someone’s life.”

Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot said: “Feeding America is grateful to Jersey Mike’s for their commitment to fighting hunger and for helping food banks across the country provide more meals to people living with food insecurity.

“This fundraiser will help secure much-needed food and groceries for families, seniors, military veterans and children who need them most.”

Through the network of food banks, 21 state-wide food bank associations, and over 60,000 partner agencies, food pantries and meal programmes, Feeding America helped to provide 6.6 billion meals to tens of millions of people in need last year.
