FAB short-list revealed as key global gathering of airport food & beverage operators nears

INTERNATIONAL. A high-class roll-call of food & beverage operations features in the short-list for the annual Airport FAB Awards to be named in Helsinki, Finland next month.

The Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards will be hosted by Finavia Corporation, operator of Helsinki Vantaa Airport, on 20-21 June. The FAB Awards will be revealed at the Gala Dinner on the concluding night.

FAB is owned and organised by The Moodie Davitt Report with sister title The Foodie Report. The only industry event dedicated solely to the airport F&B sector, FAB attracts senior representatives from the world’s leading airports, food & beverage concessionaires and brands.

Copper Dog whisky is once again sponsoring the innovative #Airofthedog Great Airport Cocktail Award, for which the finalists will be revealed next week after a pre-finals testing and sampling.

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie said: “The volume, depth, diversity and quality of entries in FAB 2018 has been hugely impressive. Judging of over 250 extremely detailed and often brilliantly creative entries has been an arduous and often contentious process, with four different judging perspectives ensuring healthy debate and a robust process. The F&B class of 2018 is certainly the best yet.”

Overall and regional winners, together with any highly commended selections and special judges’ awards, will be revealed at the Gala Dinner on 21 June.

This year’s judges were UK industry consultant David King of King & King (Convener of Judges); North American airport commercial revenues specialist and consultant Alan Gluck; ex-chef, former Copenhagen Airport F&B Category Manager and now CEO of Letz Sushi Anders Barsøe; and Martin Moodie.

This year’s main awards shortlist follows. As mentioned, a number of special Judges’ awards will be made on the night recognising particular aspects of merit from some nominations.
