AUSTRALIA. Emirates Leisure Retail Australia (ELRA) has won the master food and drinks concession at Tasmania Launceston Airport, with four new outlets targeted to open within the terminal in December.
ELRA is part of Emirates Leisure Retail (ELR), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Emirates Group.
Building on ELRA’s experience as master concessionaire at Canberra Airport, and recent wins at Perth and Brisbane International airports with the Brisbane River Grill, ELR’s travel retail footprint continues to grow across Australia and beyond.
ELR operates over 230 outlets worldwide, with over 60 operations across ten domestic and international airports throughout the Middle East and Australia. ELRA recently opened a Queensland-themed restaurant at Brisbane Airport’s International Terminal.
ELR said its growth is recognition and reward for its commitment to delivering world-class experiences for the global traveller via “˜first to market’ and “˜first to airport’ innovations, such as the FAB 2014 “˜Best Airport Bar’ winner, Coopers Alehouse in Sydney Airport.
“The ongoing goal of delivering a genuine Sense of Place that reflects local character is made possible through knowledge and insights gained by a dedicated on-the-ground team, using locally sourced produce and materials to create outlets that are truly representative of the region and world firsts for the airport,” the company stated.
ELR said the new outlet at Launceston airport would demonstrate the company’s aim to apply world-class standards mixed with local character, with a licensed, landside Hudsons Coffee site and two full service cafes offering “the best of local produce in a relaxed and stylish environment”.
Another planned opening is the world’s first Boag’s Brewery Bar and Restaurant, drawing on the brand association with the north Tasmanian region. On offer will be Tasmanian wines such as Kreglinger and Pipers Brook, whiskies such as Sullivans Cove, and cooked-to-order local produce including free-range Tasmanian beef in gourmet rolls.
ELRA Managing Director Adam Summerville said: “We are thrilled to win the master food & beverage concession at Launceston Airport as this gives us the opportunity to bring to life a strong Sense of Place with our offerings, sourcing local produce and beverage and connecting with the providence of northern Tasmania and the Launceston region.”
ELR Group CEO and Chairman of ELRA Andrew Day commented: “We are delighted with this recent award in Launceston. This win cements our position as a leading food & beverage partner to Australian airports and, coupled with a pipeline of new stores in Australia and the Middle East, extends our travel retail offering to almost 70 outlets.
“The team work really hard to ensure they deliver world-class standards while leveraging their local skills and experience to ensure they deliver a truly authentic consumer experience that aims to surpass expectation. The development of our airport food & beverage business continues to grow both in the UAE and here in Australia, and is a strategic pillar for the growth of our organisation.”
Launceston Airport Commercial Manager Michael Cullen said: “ELRA has demonstrated to be wonderfully supportive partners of Launceston Airport. They deliver quality food and beverage outlets and we are thrilled that they will be able to bring to life the richness and provenance of Launceston and Northern Tasmania through Hudsons coffee and the Boag’s Brewery Bar.”
