UAE. Emirates Retail Services recently called on all cabin crew to awaken their inner entrepreneur with The Big Idea competition. Crew were asked to think of an original product which could be sold onboard. The proposals could be presented individually or as a team, for a chance to win US$5,000 in prize money.
The competition, which ran for two months, attracted an overwhelming response: eight ideas made it through to the Big Day, when the finalists pitched their “Big Ideas” to the judging panel.

Michelle Carbonell’s winning idea was the Spectrum Jewellery Collection by Eduardo Verde. It will now be produced by Scorpio Distributors and sold onboard Emirates Duty Free. The runner-up, Yousuf Khan, was awarded US$2,500.
Emirates Vice President Retail Services John J. Sime commented: “We were delighted to receive over 200 entries and thrilled that the standard of these was so high. Michelle was a very worthy winner.”
