Edrington pays tribute to surrealism and innovation with travel retail-exclusive release of The Macallan

Sensory experience: The Macallan Concept No. 1.

Edrington Travel Retail has unveiled the first release in a limited-edition series of The Macallan celebrating the world’s visionaries.

The travel retail-exclusive The Macallan Concept No. 1 is inspired by surreal art and innovative production techniques have been used to create the single malt, Edrington said.

It will be available exclusively in Dubai Duty Free from 1 December and selected travel retail outlets throughout Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas from January 2019.

The new release has been created from whiskies matured first in sherry-seasoned oak casks and then for an equal time in ex-bourbon casks.

“The Macallan Concept No. 1 is whisky reimagined and offers a compelling new sensory experience that rewards with every sip,” said The Macallan Master Distiller Nick Savage. “The innovative process developed to produce this remarkable single malt pays tribute to the visionaries of the surreal art world and reflects our continuous search for excellence.

“Characterised by notes of citrus fruits and ginger, with a hint of dried fruit, The Macallan Concept No. 1 creates a soft and subtle sweetness before a dry and lingering oak finish.”

The Macallan Concept No. 1’s packaging features a surrealist design of The Macallan Six Pillars.

It is bottled at an ABV of 40% and has a recommend selling price of US$125.
