INDIA. Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) has issued a tender for a duty free shop to serve cruise passengers arriving in Goa, The Moodie Report can confirm.
Bids close on 18 September for the approximate 30sq m store inside the customs area. They will be opened the same day.
The port operator has also issued tenders for several other shops in the MPT Cruise Business Centre and the Headland Shopping Complex. The dates are the same as for the duty free tender.
The Times of India also carried a report on the development. It quoted MPT chairman P Mara Pandiyan saying that the shopping complex and duty free store should be finished by the next tourist season.

This year, MPT expects 30 cruise ships, most of them from Europe, to visit between October 2013 and May 2014, he said.
