The impressive new-look store opened by Dufry at Sharjah International Airport – and there’s more to come

UAE. Dufry, the duty free retailer at Sharjah International Airport opened the first phase of its main duty free shop on 21 June after two months of renovation.

The inauguration of the new store was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mohammad Al Thani, Chairman of Sharjah Civil Aviation; Dr Ghanem Al Hajri, Director General of Sharjah Airport Authority & Department of Civil Aviation; Abdulwahab Al Roomi, Director of Civil Aviation; Adel Ali, Air Arabia CEO; Julian Diaz , Dufry Group CEO; Jose Antonio Gea, Dufry Group Global Chief Operating Officer and local media.

The shop was opened up and now can be entered from both sides to add to the customers’ shopping comfort. The 1,080sq m store offers an extensive assortment of duty free products.

Director Retail Operations Jan Baljet said: “Our new added facilities contain a walk-in humidor which offers a wide variety of Cuban and Dominican tobaccos and cigars, including accessories such as humidors, pipes and cutters to choose from.

“We have also opened a wider selection of designer sunglasses, the variety of the food section was increased and the luggage area was opened, now offering selected best quality travel equipment and Formula 1 gear. Furthermore the toys area has a wider selection, and there are very interesting promotions on electronic highlights. The wine area offers fine products from all over the world and in the extended perfumery area all major fragrance brands can be found.”
