Drawing on tradition: TRG Concessions opens pubs and coffee shops at UK airports

UK. TRG Concessions has announced a series of openings at a number of UK airports.

The travel concessions operator refreshed an existing site at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 in December, reopening as The Prince of Wales pub (below, first two images). Its design takes inspiration from traditional British pub features, while the food and drinks menu is intended to appeal to modern pub-goers.

A rotating range of cask ales includes a Prince of Wales Ale that has been brewed especially for the pub.

TRG also added The Market Gardener concept (below) to its portfolio at Heathrow in 2016. It is another traditional British pub and draws on the history of market gardens producing fresh fruit and vegetables for Londoners from the ground now covered by Heathrow Airport. It is located in Terminal 3 arrivals.

The company opened the sixth and seventh sites of its Joes Coffee House brand last year, at Stansted and Gatwick (South). The Gatwick site is pictured below.

Finally, TRG Concessions Executive Chef Dean Wilson-Hartles has created a breakfast sauce that is only available at TRG units. The “tangy, tasty” condiment compliments a range of breakfast dishes and brings “hints of fruitiness and spiciness”. The sauce will be available for retail purchase this year.
