‘Dr. Duty Free’ debuts on Globuy as popular consumer platform sets new records

The doctor’s practice is now open and you may (just about) recognise the consultant

CHINA. Popular consumer media platform Globuy [玩转全球免税] has celebrated the 100th edition of its Duty Free News Flash programme on WeChat in innovative style by introducing a ‘Dr. Duty Free’ (aka The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie) advisory service to answer questions about the duty free sector and the products on offer.

Globuy/玩转全球免税, whose mission is to become ‘the media KOL of Chinese travel retail’ and which hosts the annual Globuy Travel Retail Consumer Awards, has been hosting Duty Free News Flash since October 2019.

Globuy has over 1 million followers on its wide-ranging WeChat social media platform that promotes new launches, product availability, promotions, and special offers.

Globuy provides a wide array of  global travel shopping information for Chinese consumers. Due to the pandemic, its Duty Free News Flash programme has focused on China’s domestic duty free sector for much of the past two years.

“Fortunately, the rapid rise of China’s duty free industry has given us the motivation to persevere [despite the pandemic,” says Globuy in its latest Vlog.

To mark the 100th issue of Duty Free News Flash and passing the 2 million mark in total page views since launch, and to boost its services to readers, Globuy has partnered with The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie – dubbed ‘Dr. Duty Free’ for the programme – to answer questions about the duty free sector and the products on offer.

In a message to Globuy viewers on the platform’s Vlog, Moodie said: “I’m sending my warmest congratulations to the amazing team at Globuy and my sincere greetings to all its followers and readers.

“I understand that Globuy now has a million followers. That’s an increase of more than three times from the first time I met the Globuy team. This is a tremendous success story.

“Globuy plays a very important role in assisting Chinese consumers to understand the products and the benefits of the duty free industry.”

Globuy introduced Dr. Duty Free by asking followers:
