In big breaking news, Diageo has unveiled a limited-edition Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky inspired by the hit television show Game of Thrones.
White Walker by Johnnie Walker is being launched in collaboration with cable and satellite television network HBO. It is inspired by the White Walkers – an ancient race of humanoid ice creatures who come from the Far North of Westeros – that appear in the show (and George R. R. Martin’s series of novels).

“Known by their icy blue eyes and led by the Night King, the undead army of White Walkers have emerged from the Frozen North bringing with them the chill of winter and now a limited-edition whisky that evokes their icy world,” Diageo said in unveiling the limited-edition Scotch.
White Walker by Johnnie Walker was created by whisky specialist George Harper alongside the small team of expert blenders at Johnnie Walker.
The bottle features an icy white and blue design and a Johnnie Walker Striding Man fashioned in armour to evoke the White Walker army. Diageo has also used temperature-sensitive ink to create a message on the bottle when frozen. It reads ‘Winter is Here’ – one of the show’s taglines.
The Scotch features Single Malts from Cardhu and Clynelish – one of Scotland’s most Northern distilleries. Blender George Harper said he used the Frozen North as his starting point for creating White Walker by Johnnie Walker.
“Whiskies from Clynelish have endured long, Scottish winters, not dissimilar to the long periods endured by the Night’s Watch who have ventured north of the wall,” he explained. “So it was the perfect place to start when creating this unique whisky.”
HBO Vice President, Licensing & Retail Jeff Peters said the network had noted a fan appetite for a Game of Thrones whisky. “Once we saw the vision from Johnnie Walker for a way to collaborate we knew the idea was perfect and the time was now,” he said.
“From the beginning, they understood that we wanted to create something special, and they’ve accomplished that with White Walker by Johnnie Walker. We’re confident fans will enjoy sipping this delicious whisky as they wait for season eight and beyond.”

White Walker by Johnnie Walker is part of a wider partnership with HBO which will also see the launch of the Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection in February 2019. The collection features eight Scotches that are each paired with one of the show’s Houses of Westeros and the Night’s Watch.
White Walker by Johnnie Walker will be available globally, including in airports, from October 2018. It has a RRSP of US$50.90 for a 1L bottle and an ABV of 41.7%.
